From Fear to Passion
I was born in Colón, Panama, and believe it or not, I used to be terrified of dogs. After being bitten five times as a child, I wanted nothing to do with them. That changed when I met a gentle, playful dog named Reina at the age of eight. She helped me see dogs in a different light and sparked a transformation that would change my life forever.
The Start of Something Bigger
At 14, I secretly adopted a street pup named Princess. After losing her to distemper, I threw myself into learning everything I could about dog behavior. I trained my brother’s dog, Flash, using techniques I picked up from books, and by five months old, he was following both voice and hand commands.
That experience lit a fire in me, and I knew dog training was my calling.
Turning Passion Into Profession
Fast forward a few years, and I’ve worked with dozens of dogs and families. In 2004, I trained two Belgian Malinois—Celine and Credo—which marked a big milestone in my career. Credo, who had been rescued from a traumatic situation, became one of the most obedient, accomplished dogs I’ve ever worked with, even earning top obedience titles.
Our bond reminded me why I do what I do: to help misunderstood dogs find trust, structure, and love again.
Building K9 Cross Training
Today, I run K9 Cross Training, LLC here in Baltimore, Maryland. I specialize in dogs that are aggressive, reactive, fearful, or simply “hard to handle.” My method is always personalized. I involve the entire family in training so that what we teach remains effective long after our sessions are done.
I believe that the relationship between a dog and their person is everything. When both sides understand each other, anything is possible.
